Who we are

The Logan Church of the Nazarene in Logan, West Virginia cares about one thing more than anything else: Jesus Christ. We are a family of individuals who have found hope in Jesus, and simply want as many people as possible to experience that same hope and freedom. We are a small part of the International Church of the Nazarene, from whom we are resourced and through whom we contribute to spreading the Gospel around the world.

Where we come from

Logan Church of the Nazarene came into being in 1935 when Rev. W. V. Thompson came to the area establish a Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Thompson began holding worship services in a tent which created interest from the community and planted the seeds for a Church of the Nazarene in Logan. Our first church building was located on Dingess St. on the hill overlooking Central City. Around 1955, God opened the doors for us to buy the former Presbyterian Church building on Bridge St. We still have this building (now known as the Wallen Auditorium) and it houses areas for fellowship, children’s and youth ministries, and Sunday school classes. In 1981 we broke ground for our new sanctuary facing Dingess Street, which we moved into on February 28, 1982. God has brought us a long way from 1935 when we began with 10 charter members who had a vision to plant a church.

Where we’re headed

Where are we going? More than ever, the Logan Church of the Nazarene is committed to fostering a church family built around faith in Jesus Christ, hope for the future, help for a better life today, the training and equipping of the laity. As we move forward as a church family, helping others to feel part of the family of God here in Logan remain at the center of who we are as followers of Christ.
